FIXED for Life returns July 15!

GCCF funds six animal-welfare agencies to provide free spay/neuter services

GULFPORT, MS (June 26, 2025) – Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF) has awarded six South Mississippi animal-welfare agencies a total of $150,000 in grants to support FIXED for Life, a no-cost spay and neuter program. Now in its second year, the program will enable the agencies to provide services to residents in George, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Pearl River and Stone counties.

Applications will be available from the agencies beginning July 15.

FIXED for Life, funded by the Jack A. and Gertrude W. Wilson Animal Welfare Fund, covers services related to spay-and-neuter procedures, including surgery, a one-time rabies vaccination, flea treatment (if applicable), and post-operative care as recommended by the attending veterinarian. The program will be managed at the local level by one designated animal welfare agency in each participating county.

Participating agencies include the following:

  • George County – Rise and Shine Animal Rescue
  • Hancock County – Friends of the Hancock County Animal Shelter
  • Harrison County – Humane Society of South Mississippi
  • Jackson County – Friends of the Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets
  • Pearl River County – Pearl River County SPCA
  • Stone County – Stone County SPCA

Each agency will review applications, determine eligibility and distribute service vouchers to approved applicants.
