GCCF Announces 2015 Scholarship Winners

The Gulf Coast Community Foundation has awarded $81,750 in scholarships to local students across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The Dorothy M. Eaton Scholarship was awarded to Lauren Burns, Gulfport High School, in the amount of $1,000.

The James Eaton Scholarship was awarded to Marguerite Marquez, Gulfport High School, in the amount of $1,000.

The Mary & Gene Levens Scholarship was awarded to Hayden Rupert, Long Beach High School, in the amount of $1,000.

The Rotary Club of Gulfport Scholarship Fund awarded four scholarships totaling $18,000. Gulfport High School students Marquerite Marquez and Margaret Loughman each received $8,000. Neely Walker, Gulfport High School, and Grant Kalil, St. Patrick Catholic High School, each received $1,000.

The Rotary Club of Biloxi Scholarship Fund awarded four scholarships totaling $6,000. Biloxi High School students Frances Gayle Lawson, Trent Calvin Gill, Sara Dao, and Bailey Stokes each received $1,500.

The Jeremiah J. O’Keefe & Annette S. O’Keefe Scholarship awarded two scholarships totaling $8,000. Haley Marie Orman, St. Patrick Catholic High School, and Aisha Lyle, Ocean Springs High School, each received $4,000.

The Blue Caillavet Scholarship awarded two scholarships totaling $3,000. Biloxi High School students Madeline Andrews and Jacorius Williams each received $1,500.

The Griffin Stewart Memorial Choir Scholarship was awarded to Gulfport High School student Timothy Edward Griffin in the amount of $1,500.

The Stewart Sneed Hewes Scholarship awarded four scholarships through the Coast Chamber totaling $8,000. Recipients included Michael Cox II of D’Iberville High School (Jimmy C. “Big Jim” Braiser Scholarship), Trent Calvin Gill of Biloxi High School (John C. “Jack” Thompson Scholarship), Kaleb Fredricks (H. Richard Dick Herman Scholarship), and Aleana Kristensen (Evelyn Desporte Thompson Scholarship). Each student received $2,000.

The Jack A. Wilkson Engineering Scholarship was awarded to Kevin Quist in the amount of $1,250.

The Harold and Mary W. Perlman Scholarship awarded two scholarships totaling $6,000. Biloxi High School student Sara Dao and the University of Southern Mississippi student Sidney Smith each received $3,000.

The Career Woman’s Club Scholarship awarded two scholarships totaling $2,000. MGCCC students Debra Cook and Casey St. Clair Rumore each received $1,000.

The Michael Mixon Scholarship was awarded to Emily Cvitanovich in the amount of $1,000.

The Lawrence & Lucimarian Roberts Helpline Scholarship awarded two scholarships totaling $5,000. Ocean Springs High School student Sarah Sison and the University of Southern Mississippi student Sidney Smith each received $2,500.

The Hancock Associates Scholarship awarded eight scholarships totaling $20,000. Lindsey Berns, Tyler Binder, Dante’ Hebert, Jackson Loupe, Erique Mijangos, Amanda Nethery, Cole Rankin, and Lydia Renfroe each received $2,500.
